K+S Potash Canada credits strong workforce as the driving force behind second national Top Employer designation

Saskatoon, SK – For the second year, K+S Potash Canada (KSPC) has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, a group that leads the country in attracting and retaining employees.

"K+S Potash Canada is proud to be named one of Canada’s Top Employers," says Sam Farris, President and General Manager, Operations. "This is really a reflection of the great people we have on our team. Great people help us achieve our goals, develop a positive culture, and in turn, enhance and improve our business."

KSPC has seen many achievements since joining the province’s potash industry in 2011 as a team of about a dozen people. Today, after over a year of production at their Bethune mine, the company is settling into steady operation with a team of almost 450.

"Our colleagues in Saskatchewan have demonstrated an exceptionally strong team spirit since the beginning, and for that reason, I know our company is looking forward to a long and successful future of potash operations in Canada."

Dan Ross, Manager, Human Resources, echoes Thom’s sentiment by adding, "This designation doesn’t just recognize a company, but a whole team. To revive an earlier recruitment slogan, ‘it isn’t K+S unless it’s you + us.’ That’s still true. We are here today because of our dedicated and talented people."

Canada’s Top 100 Employers project is a national competition to determine which employers lead their industries in offering exceptional workplaces for their employees. Employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers using eight criteria, which have remained consistent since the project’s inception: (1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.

KSPC has also been recognized as one of Saskatchewan’s Top Employers every year since 2014.
