Tax Accountant

Your Responsibilities

The Tax Accountant provides a leading role in the administration and management of Canadian taxes.

The successful candidate will:
•Complete compliance reporting of various Canadian Federal and Provincial tax returns and supplementary forms and slips including T5013, T2, T106, T4A NR, NR4, T661, GST, PST
•Complete the IFRS obligations relating to the accounting for income taxes
•Prepare and manage related documents including supporting and contemporaneous documentation
•Stay current with changes to tax legislation and provide executive summaries of changes to management
•Ensure timely tax filings and payment remittances
•Promote a paperless working paper environment with advanced computer skills in MS Office, and SAP
•Advise management regarding tax planning projects, tax risks and uncertain tax positions
•Create and maintain: process control, and contemporaneous documentation for tax related functions
•Create and maintain data collection systems and processes.
•Provide assistance on matters relating to tax audits and other compliance initiatives, including communications and responses with tax authorities and others where required.

Qualifying requirements for this role:
•5+ years’ progressive financial accounting experience
•Strong knowledge of the FI and CO modules of SAP is a significant asset
•Demonstrated 5 - 8+ years of experience working with Canadian Corporate tax legislation and accounting for income taxes
•Chartered Professional Accountant designation
•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
•Strong negotiation and communication skills
•Familiarity working within Vertex is an asset
•Strong research skills and the ability to analyze, interpret and apply findings
•Efficient planning and organizational skills
•Team player who interacts in a professional manner
•Analytical thinker and detail oriented
•Ability to prioritize and self-manage tasks and deadlines
•Must be authorized to legally work in Canada.
•Successful candidates must be eligible to travel outside of Canada as travel may be required
