Contracts Specialist

Your Responsibilities

This position is responsible to provide contracting activity as it applies to services and goods required by the KSPC. This includes but is not limited to; vendor pre-qualification, tendering process, tender evaluation, contract negotiation, vendor recommendation, customer acceptance, contract execution and administration. This role will have a direct impact on the costs and profitability of K+S Potash Canada.
The successful candidate will:
• Support development of Contract Management Plans to ensure all aspects of assigned contracts are met; establish key requirements, measures and protocols to mitigate corporate / business risk
• Based on the business needs follow the procurement process, suggest procurement strategy, and develop risk mitigation plans with input from functional departments
• Maintain all documentation in the contracts database (filing of emails, negotiations, exceptions, deviations and qualifications pertinent to the Contract / PO)
• Contribute to contract strategies, support and implement negotiating strategies, and execute the management and delivery of successful contracts
• Working with end users to qualify suppliers, develop scopes of work, and bid list development
• Manage to completion, the Procurement process, including the development of the RFQ / RFP documents
• Complete commercial reviews and prepare commercial bid evaluations with supporting documentation
• Lead bid review team and negotiate final technical and commercial clarifications, and support consolidation of items into conformed contract documents
• Prepare and issue for execution, letters of recommendation and letters of award
• Develop, finalise and issue conformed contract for execution
• Evaluate and recommend contract changes to ensure effectiveness of change management and financial implications
• Manage commercial activities related to assigned contracts to ensure consistency with contract terms and conditions
• Participate in progress review meetings
• Understand and align contract strategies, priorities and plans with End Users
• Build and manage relationships with vendors, coordinating any transactional correspondence for payables in addition to addressing any payment related issues and back charges
• Support Procurement Team as requested
• Data entry of Contracts into SAP
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifying requirements for this role:
•Must have Diploma or a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Purchasing.
•3 - 5 years’ of experience in the contracts field for multiple large projects.
•Advanced Excel skills
•Supply Chain Certification, SCM Diploma, SCMP Designation considered an asset
•SAP knowledge considered an asset
•Experience with various types of contracts pertaining to goods and services
•Knowledge of legislation and regulatory environment as it relates to purchasing and supply chain management.
•Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
•Ability to influence

•Commitment to achieving results in a fast paced changing environment
•Has strong understanding of the regulatory environment as applicable to subject matter.
•Must be authorized to legally work in Canada.
•Successful candidates must be eligible to travel outside of Canada as travel may be required
