Drafting Supervisor

Your Responsibilities

The Drafting Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and leadership of the site drafting team.

The position supports various engineering teams to complete new design and modifications projects, approves technical documentation changes according to a management of change process, leads multiple disciplines in a drafting team, and ensures design work is completed for capital and maintenance projects.

This position is responsible to ensure all design and drafting systems are adequately maintained and available for use.

The successful candidate will:
•Ensure that K+S Potash Canada is at all times in compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental regulatory and internal laws and policies
•Supervise multi-disciplined drafting/design technician group, including contractors
•Develop a drafting technician training and professional development program
•Receive and assign prioritized work requests for design and drafting support, including managing workload and resources
•Monitor quality, consistency, and timeliness of direct reports’ deliverables
•Develop work schedules as required for various scopes of drafting work
•Support resolution of operational issues by working with production, maintenance and Bethune mine staff in an expedient and sustainable fashion
•Work with Plant Engineering to maintain engineering document and data integrity and quality
•Develop, deploy, and audit standard work practices, procedures, and workflows for the drafting team
•Develop requirements for drafting and design tools (i.e. software) and work with plant engineering to define and manage suite of tools
•Work with Projects and Technology Department to support their design and drafting requirements and to ensure they are complying with site standards
•Conduct and coordinate design/drafting on multidisciplinary scopes
•Conduct detailed drafting and design tasks as required

Qualifying requirements for this role:
•5+ years’ technical drafting supervisory experience strongly preferred
•Diploma in Applied Science Technology program with A.Sc.T. Registration
•Displays a reasoned perspective and brings resolution to issues while considering all areas of impact

•Demonstrates the ability to analyze and resolve work issues that arise
•Provides leadership in improving performance and efficiencies within the working group
•Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement within working groups
•Provides direction and review the work of team
•Fosters development of high performance by providing ongoing coaching and support
•Holds employee accountable for results and commitments
•Demonstrates working knowledge of Sask OH&S Act and Regulations
•Ensures that employees follow and meet health, safety and security procedures
•Must be authorized to legally work in Canada.
•Successful candidates must be eligible to travel outside of Canada as travel may be required
