Distributed Controls System Specialist
The Distributed Control System Specialist is a key position responsible for implementing DCS related preventive maintenance schedules as well as corrective maintenance tasks. The position ensures the health and effectiveness of the hardware and software of all DCS related systems. The DCS specialist plays an important role in assisting instrumentation technologists and electricians in troubleshooting work across the refinery and wellfield.
The successful candidate will:
•Manage, modify, configure, and maintain all control programming in the DCS, any connected PLCs, and the Operator Training Simulator. This includes monitoring performance of any and all control programming and coordinating with maintenance and operations to improve performance.
•Support of all sub-systems connected with the DCS, including the Historian and Asset Optimization
•Manage, modify, configure, and maintain all control system HMI programming in the DCS and any connected local vendor specific HMIs.
•Manage, modify, configure, and coordinate maintenance of all control system low level hardware including, but not limited to, DCS controllers, PLCs, communication bridges.
•Manage, modify, configure, and maintain all control networks.
•Responsible to assist Instrumentation technologists and electricians with field troubleshooting through the DCS.
•Responsible to resolve DCS hardware related problems such as hardware replacement and ordering new equipment.
•Responsible to assist production area operators with automation troubleshooting through the DCS.
•Responsible to assist process engineers with the DCS reports and interfaces.

Qualifying requirements for this role:
•Technical troubleshooting experience with both field equipment and DCS is required
•Experience with ABB 800xA is considered an asset
•Experience with Rockwell equipment and software is beneficial
•Experience with aforementioned control related networks is considered an asset.
•Self-motivated with excellent communication, and organizational skills
•Ability to influence others and lead change
•Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
•Ability to make and exercise sound judgement
•Ability to manage and coordinate multiple project assignments simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
•Must be authorized to legally work in Canada.
•Successful candidates must be eligible to travel outside of Canada as travel may be required
Successful candidates may be entitled to relocation assistance.
Position will be based at the KSPC Bethune site but will involve infrequent travel for technical training. Ability to travel internationally may be required. A combination of field and office work required.
